Our mission is to renew fundamental links between people, plants, and the earth; advance multidisciplinary learning; promote environmental responsibility; and create partnerships that enhance communities.

We know that gardening engages kids in active learning, exploration, and fun. That is why NGA is a leader in the movement to start a garden in every school. We help teachers, schools, and school districts develop garden programs that achieve educational standards.

Your purchase from our catalog or online store helps to support our youth gardening programs.

Why is a nonprofit organization selling products?

1. Our mission as a nonprofit educational organization is to help more people garden more successfully. All of our products support this purpose, and many are exclusive to NGA.

2. Our products offer several important benefits to our biggest asset: our members and customers. Our products help solve gardening problems and provide information. Because we test each product, its value is known, and our endorsement has meaning. Finally, we offer discounts when possible on many of our products.

3. As a national nonprofit organization, we are very involved in gardening projects for children, senior citizens, urban dwellers without land, and others. Our efforts to expose more people to the joys and benefits of gardening are expanding, while funding from foundations, government, and other sources is increasingly scarce.

To support our mission, every surplus dollar from our sale of products helps to support our award-winning education programs in schools and communities nationwide. Plus, your purchase helps us to continue publishing the most trusted gardening information in print and on the Internet.

Gardening....A mission we take seriously.
